Spiral Organ Trio

Spiral Organ Trio is a fresh and exciting new presence on the Chicago jazz scene, having already played engagements at area venues including Braxton Seafood Grill, Pete Miller’s and Salt Creek Wine Bar. Made up of three young musicians with skills and experience far beyond their years, the group is breathing new life into the time-honored tradition of the jazz organ trio. SOT combines their extensive musical training and youthful energy to create music that is both thoughtful and exhilarating. With a repertoire of tight-knit arrangements encompassing bebop, ballads, funk and more, these three young men are ready to provide tasteful, professional music for any setting or venue.

Individual Bios:

Stuart Mindeman is one of the leading pianists and organists on the Chicago scene, having toured with guitarist Fareed Haque and played in Chicago with a who's who of Chicago jazz musicians including John Wojciechowski, Victor Garcia, Greg Ward and more.  He earned a Bachelors of Music at Northern Illinois University, where he studied under veteran pianist Willie Pickens.

Terry Bartolotta has been playing guitar since he was eleven years old. He received a B.M. in Jazz Guitar from Northern Illinois University, where he studied with Fareed Haque and Ron Carter. Terry recently earned a Master’s Degree in Music at DePaul University, where he has learned from greats like Bobby Broom and Bob Lark. He also had the opportunity to perform with jazz legend Phil Woods while at DePaul. Currently, Terry freelances in Chicago, and has performed with Charles McPherson, Claudio Roditi, and many of Chicago’s best musicians.

Lucas Gillan started playing drums when he was nine years old in his hometown of Tucson, AZ. He earned a B.M. in Jazz Percussion at Northern Illinois University, where he had the opportunity to play with jazz leg- ends like John Clayton, Antonio Hart, and Rodney Whitaker. He now lives in the Chicago area. He has performed with a number of great musicians including Fareed Haque and Bob Perna. He has performed at Andy’s Jazz Club, The Jazz Showcase, Pete Miller’s, the United Center and many other venues.
